The Best Viral Campaigns of 2019 So Far...

We're going to be looking at the current 2019's best viral campaigns of the internet. Capturing the attention of the audience has never been so easy but is this just clever marketing or just simple luck? We look at three of the top, most recent viral online campaigns.

Gregg's Vegan Sausage Roll

Gregg's cleverly marketed their new vegan sausage roll, during vegan January, which attracted a lot of their customers as veganism is becoming a popular food trend. Whilst many praised Gregg's for becoming more inclusive of other food lifestyles it was the outspoken and more controversial conversations that helped to advertise Gregg's new product. People like Pier's Morgan are one of the main reason's why this particular advertisement has caught the attention of thousands, as his twitter is known for being extremely controversial. This meant that Gregg's got the exposure and publicity they were planning for. It was also down to the witty responses and clever PR packaging wrapped in an iPhone box. The marketing team really pulled it out of the bag this time!

The Egg Image on Instagram

One of the most comical viral campaigns of 2019 has to be the 'Egg' image that exploded over social media. Drawing over 53 million likes, it quickly becomes one of the most liked pictures on Instagram and it even beat Kylie Jenner, Instagram post. It currently now has 9.5 million followers, and the account is still actively posting. What makes it one of the best viral campaigns of 2019 is the fact that it was able to draw such a quick audience in such a small space of time. This only shows the power of social media and how quickly a simple image can become a viral hit.

Fiji Water Girl - Fiji Water at the Golden Globes

Fiji water was one of the main sponsors at the golden globes and one of the most talked about part of the event. The marketing for the water wasn't going to just sponsor but publicly promote the water by hiring Kelleth Cuthbert and a photography to perfects photobomb ever celebrity shot, evidently promoting their water. This became a viral hit on social media with many referring Cuthbert as the 'Fiji Water Girl', and as being a sponsor wasn't enough, Fiji was able to capitalise on the viral success of the water bottle being promoted at this huge event. Whilst this was seen as one of the best publicity campaigns, it also backfires and didn't turn out great for Fiji as Cuthbert, ended up suing the company for improper contractual obligations. So if you're going to do a campaign like Fiji just make sure you don't let it backfire.
